Usually both, at some level, though It's important to understand that every single one of us has a different answer to the question "which is more important, and by how much?".
I happen to value security over freedom. To an extent where I'm willing to give up my freedom in an exchange for absolute security. Real absolute security, not a mere façade. I am willing to submit to someone who is worthy. And that’s not a trivial thing – to be worthy. Throughout my life I’ve yet to personally talk to a person who I would consider to be worthy.
Now, let’s go back a bit. To the topic. Feet. What are they? A part of a body, of course, but, more importantly – a symbol. Not by themselves but… kissing or licking someone’s feet is almost universally seen a sign of total and utter submission. So, while people have their own answers as to why they have a foot fetish, and undoubtedly some people would draw attention to the body part itself as an object of their desire, to me – it’s all a metaphor. A metaphor for finding someone who is worthy. Worthy enough to give your full freedom to. And who will, in return, love you. Truly love you. And protect you. For they are, fundamentally, more powerful and capable than you, if they are, indeed, worthy.
And that fantasy – the fantasy of finally encountering a figure who is at the very least worthy of becoming my proper superior, or, perhaps even worthy enough to be the God-Emperor of Mankind… that is what fascinates me and drives my fantasy absolutely wild.
