i do it because theres black people everywhere that i live and they arent friendly when you say hello.
I was walking into the gas station and these black guys were outside the door staring at me as i walked in so i said “whats up guys” and they kept staring as i walked inside. Immediatley started screaming nigger in my head as i walked around inside.

They're conditioned to looking at their phones, so viewing the world around them is off-putting. Where I work, anytime there's downtime, the Zoomers pull their phones out immediately; it's where they feel comfortable.

I'm tall and I just look at the pavement a few metres ahead of me to check for obstructions. Look up like a fucking man. Chin up, shoulders back, chest out.

I do it because there's always cool stuff to find on the ground. I think I found something like 30 grams of silver by just collecting what other people lost. But don't worry, when it comes to interacting with people, it's always eye contact.
I think other zoomers do it out of habit. They stare at their phones all day, so they're used to staring downwards to see the phone. Even though there's no phone there, they're so used to the position that they do it anyways.

Used to be like that, then started going to the gym and got the confidence to walk looking straight. I still look down when passing by someone I really don't want to talk or anything though.
