Fossil Fuel Reckoning

You did this.

You spent the last 8 years bleating incessantly about how fossil fuels and carbon emissions were "destroying the planet".
About how they are a mortal danger to humanity.
You did this without any objective, empirical evidence whatsoever, but that did not matter to you. What mattered most to you was having a cause du jour to champion; something to make you appear noble and virtuous.

Well the chickens have come home to roost.
Fossil fuels and refined petroleum products are a literal miracle of nature. They have enabled the development, production, and distribution of every modern convenience and privilege in this world that you have come to take for granted.
And now, because of your constant bitching and whining, every company on the planet that explores for and makes these fuels that you rely on has become persona-non-grata in the eyes of banks and funds that control the flow of capital in the West.
Right now, these companies are willing to do nothing with their money other than to invest a fraction of it cautiously and stash the rest of it away for safekeeping.
Oil and natural gas are going to be scarce and expensive for a very long time because of the way that YOU have behaved.

The problem is not that gasoline is "going" to $5.50 or $6.00/gallon, or that oil is "going" to $150 per barrel up from $50.
It's that they're going there, and they're fucking staying there.

Nothing on the planet can replace these fuel sources. Nothing.
Wind energy provides net negative returns without the enormous government subsidy it receives, creates a massive landfill problem from it's used up components, and also requires continuous fossil fuel use for manufacturing, installation, and maintenance.
Solar doesn't work either. The sun simply doesn't shine bright enough and in enough places.

The world had to listen to your nonsensical bitching for far too long, and now you're going to pay for it.

no I didn't

No, we said we'd like to see the US stop being a net energy exporter and start being a net energy importer.

You have that backwards.

>Won't someone please think of the gas companies??
fuck em. they raised prices to record levels while raking in record profits. your plea for sympathy is grotesque, considering what they did to this country.

Bahahaha.
This is oil companies pleading for sympathy from you?
You have that completely wrong, friendo. They're doing just fine. They're selling the commodities they produce near all-time high prices, and will be for a long time.
The difference is that, while under normal circumstances they would be perfectly willing to pony up big money to drill more wells and refine oil at their full capacity and drive prices back in short order, now they are forced by the banking apparatus, driven by retarded public opinion to be cautious and to produce at a trickle, which will keep prices up for years on end.

You're the one paying for it, you fucking moron.
You're the one whose gas, electricity, and gas-pump bills have gone up by nearly double.

Jesus Christ you could not be further off the mark.

Yes, you did.
And even if you weren't directly involved in it, you are to blame for your indifference to activists' unceasing idiocy .

It's time for this thread to be popular.
I didn't write this fucking essay for nothing.

Based, OP

I said respond to my fucking post.

HE SAID RESPOND TO HIS FUCKING POST.

oil doesnt come from fossils.

I honestly don’t mind paying more for fuel, poor people should be travelling less but my usage won’t change

what about nuclear?

Nuclear is great for electricity generation, but we still need fossil fuels for shipping and transport, plastics fertiliser and other petro chemicals

From an energy return standpoint, nuclear fission is incredibly viable and low cost.
In virtually every other regard, it faces problems that range from significant to insurmountable.

Perhaps the biggest one:
People just don't like it.
They worry (justifiably) about accident risk and homeland security risk.
Anywhere that spent fuel is stored is a target for attacks that could leave entire regions of a nation uninhabitable for tens of thousands of years.
And even in a country like France, modern socialist land of milk and honey, they plan to decommission more than half of their nuclear power plants over the next decade.

Nuclear fusion is just a pipe dream.
As the saying goes, "nuclear fusion is a mere 30 years away, and has been for decades."

You can't even afford gas now, OP.

Be less poor, nerd.

Bamps

last time i checked it was like $3.59. this was about 2 weeks ago

>says the 1st worlder living in an climate controlled building with clean, plentiful hot and cold running water, sewage system, and 24/7 electricity.

Nothing like the gaslighting opening sentence. The world needs less people like you.

Derp

>Fossil fuels and refined petroleum products are a literal miracle of nature
Damn you dumb

>They're doing just fine. They're selling the commodities they produce near all-time high prices
kind of my point.

elaborate

k

I've never understood the gas companies' strategy of trying to keep people from using gas by raising the price. I'm sure it works in the short term but eventually the people will get the message.

>hurrr muh gaslighting
>hurrr muh freshman psychology class
Remarkable how histrionic Twitter troons of all backgrounds and nationalities all seem to fall back on the same bullshit non-arguments.

Yes, the Peak Oil is true and it is happening in our lifetime

Any Forums never denied this

You have it backwards.
High prices stem from limited supply, which in europe comes as a result of political sovereignties screwing with oil and gas companies' and utilities' ability to do business efficiently.

>They have enabled the development, production, and distribution of every modern convenience and privilege in this world that you have come to take for granted.
And it won't be missed.

It's not the gas companies who set the prices anyway, It's the commodity traders who set what a barrel of oil goes for. You want less pollution? You got it. I personally think it's great. Accelerate.

there are unironically oceans of oil underground. oceans. cope.

Go fuck off Greta fagberg
