Their army is practically exhausted. It’s the population that was handed rifles and grenades which they need to worry about. If what is being reported is true there is outright mutiny in some units because they don’t have enough support to keep up the fight.

Common misconception. Azov and the far right of Ukraine do not like Zelensky. The Russo-Ukrainian war is an alliance of nescesity. Azov does not want to be crushed under Putin (who has a long history of killing ethnic nationalists), and Zelensky doesn't want to lose his cushy job as a NATO puppet.

i assume it's part of Zelensky's plan to try to get as many of the nationalists killed in the frontlines as possible so they aren't an issue later on
