I see a lot of times people here write how they work remote and how they spend maybe 2hrs on work and the rest they are on Any Forums. I am assuming you guys are working as programmers remotely? I am currently trying to learn web development, I don't really enjoy it that much but I am not interested in anything else. I have always spent more time on a computer than with people so I don't see myself doing any job with a lot of interaction.
For guys who work remotely

I guess I wanted to ask how does your work day look? Especially web devs.
i work for the CIA. you must be american and be eligable for security clearance. just get a job at mcdonalds you lazy fuck
If you're a programmer your manager can just look at your source control commits to see how much work you're doing pretty easily
No way that's possible. I work on projects, and I put in 7 - 7.5 productive hours each day, because shit needs to get done
NEETs like to larp on here too much and mislead people like OP
So it's a meme?
True, best thing anyone can do is treat 95% on here as satire. Or get off this site completely
and managers gives a fuck about this because? you work in a big company, you are managed by some dude who is like 20 levels below the ceo / owners of the company and just wants to work as least as possible himself.
I have been a programmer full time for about 8 years now and when I started on my current project it was busy and very involved. The more time I have been on the project, people have moved around and things have changed, and it's not so busy anymore. A lot of the reason for downtime when working remotely as a programmer is that work is hard to track, for instance you can spend an 8 hour day getting past one thing that isn't working, or you could solve it in an hour and the next day say that it took you the whole day. in reality you'll find a balance because it sucks just slacking all the time. I typically spend a couple of hours working in the morning and a couple in the afternoon, so you complete one to a few chunks of work per day and progress steadily in your work. When you become an expert on your project, something that takes you 20 minutes might have taken a brand new engineer to the project a week to figure out (especially if you wrote the original code and bow your task is making a small fix or adjustment). Because of this management will be pretty relaxed. Because in a sense you are the only person who can do the work and it gets done when it gets done. Another reason programmers have downtime is simply from hanging onto a project for years. Keeping you in the building might be as important as having you do real work so you will get away with a lot. The most important thing you can do is complete visible work promptly, overexplain any problems you encounter while doing your work, and make sure you are always available to communicate. If your leadership is technical they will especially understand the ebb and flow of productivity and won't expect 8 hour days. My former lead used to tell me to hop off for the day if it was 3:30 and we had been digging through code all the day , saying that if you put 5 hard hours into coding you are going to start making mistakes, and it's best to let ideas simmer.
>eastern european
of course you do 7 hours of work a day, that's why we hire you guys. Every company I was at has eastern european contractors while us first world chads just chill
I’m a sysadmin but basically yes
Developers have interaction too. They meet with the business to see what the fuck they want and then develop it. Or they bother infrastructure people like me to build or do maintenance on their servers because they aren’t allowed to have admin rights to them because they’re retards who fuck shit up. The point is to minimize your interactions, don’t work at a company with AGILE, ffs, it’s god awful
I don't think that's true for all eastern yuros, some people at my firm definitely slack off, but it's at their loss. Also I have a good work ethic, still at a junior position and my manager's disliked me from day 1, so I'm not trying to ruffle any feathers
I know but it seems minimal, you are doing stuff on your own for the most part.

8 years here as well. This reads as if I wrote it, perfect explanation and my experience exactly from entry level to senior.
>my manager's disliked me from day 1
I would just leave the job instead of cucking if you have a choice of different jobs.
I don't buy into the whole "work ethic" thing when it comes to working for some tech company, they all normally push globhomo and diversity shit. I do 2 hours of work a day for them and then work on personal/side stuff while responding to messages.
this guy is right plus you would be implying the manager knows anything in tech ? i can justify the time spent to write 10 lines easily beacause component x needed an upgrade of lib y but was conflicting with deployment strategy z and so on..
from my experience most managers are technology illetrate when it comes to code. I'm not worried haha

It is really not difficult to make 50k/yr just thrifting and selling items on ebay and similar sites. It takes zero risk to start doing that and there are a billion and one videos showing how it's done.
retired multi millionaire engineer here
i'm too lazy to answer question unless the question is interesting
no how's my day like is not an interesting question
I do project management for a lighting company & we've been remote ever since the "virus" started. It's so nice not having to drive to work everyday or get up early. Our quote, import & purchasing departments all work from home too. Just the warehouse goes in.
>i havent fallen through the ever growing cracks yet
you will
be patient
krivi board pedercino, web dev je meme, mozes nauciti za 2 tjedna ali nikad neces biti kvalitetan inzenjer zato sto si retardiran
>burger things that everyone's lives around the world consist of seven thousand little commerce transactions per day
retard, this Gary V tier garbage only works in burgerland
mate bulic
>commits
>how much work you're doing
these are not one and the same
if you're not retarded you can work for 2-3 hours and still look like you're getting more shit done than your peers. mainly because many of your peers, while actually retarded, are also trying to do the same.
