They are getting money to fund their war and replace their equipment from the gas and oil sales that Western European governments like yours need to make their country going and to prevent the population they govern from "French Revolution"-ing their asses.
But what's money anyway, than compensation for time served. If I was a young Russian engineer, I'd gladly help the war effort and my people by giving my services and knowledge to, I don't know, creating drones or whatever society may need me to do. Being able to use my skills in the real world, learn new things, get paid, and help my country are just a few simple things I can do to not become a nihilistic, depressed, angry, loser who has nothing to live for. Simple formula but it works. Stay up, fren.
