Getting rich through hard work is a relatively recent idea. People in the middle ages never believed their endless toil would ever accumulate wealth, they toiled to stay alive and ensure the local lord wouldn't kill them and their family.

If you do 3 peoples jobs, you don't get promoted. They'd have to hire 3 people to do your job after you leave. This will cost almost 3 times as much vs. your promotion for slightly more pay. They're going to keep you right where you are and hire someone from outside to company or promote someone mediocre.

I live in a third world shithole, the wage is so low that I would actually lose money working taking into account the cost of gasoline. The only way I could make money would be not eating anything and taking the bus, but that would imply 3 hours of commute (on top of the normal 10 hours that every job demands, with no extra hours pay). This economy is so fucking retarded. No thanks.

Nah it's true. Working hard will get you stuck in a position while the guy above you takes credit and gets promoted for his enlightened leadership. It's all about nepotism, ass kissing, what color you are and what's between your legs. If you work hard you better get some personal satisfaction out of it, while your all asses and elbows to get the job done, everyone is going to be stepping on your back.

Being a hard worker usually means you're expected to pick up the slack of the lazy workers. I've had this issue with my last two jobs. I'm expected to do the jobs of 2 or 3 people without being paid to do the jobs of 2 or 3 people.
