Fruits and vegetables in supermarkets are quite expensive in urban areas, but dirt cheap if you buy them from farmers directly. (Often sold for 50c per pound regardless of type of produce, even cheaper if you go and pick it yourself.)
In a word: Austrian farming has no kill-switch and does not depend on synthetic fertilizers that much. Austria has ca. a third of an acre of farmland per capita, what is enough if meat consumption is reduced. "Per capita" includes ca. 10% of subhumanskis who will be sent packing if push comes to shove. Austrians are armed to the teeth and would actually welcome a collapse of the federal and more so of the EU-government.
