I wish I knew what pre-9/11 world was like, but my only memories of that time are getting Pokemon Blue and collecting rocks with my friends.
This thread again? Seems like if you were honestly interested you'd just check the archive.
Broccoli head zoomer can't bother to go to the archives and read for himself.
Every generation enjoyed their youth. Nostalgia isn't unique to one particular generation. Every generation will hate the next.
I cooked hard to that bitch

it used to be easy to get a job. all the big box stores had 100+ employees instead of the skeleton crews they have been running for a decade. restaurants were always filled, like people eating at the tables at mcdonalds with their families. people were not overly fat yet and the majority of the country was still thin. the median age was lower and most people here were younger. there hadn't been serious economic problems in living memory and people trusted the government and media. we were easily entertained and most social interaction was done face to face with groups instead of online. america was thriving in almost every way and the unbelievable cliff we fell off after 2008 is really hard to explain, financially, culturally, physically... everything deteriorated bigly and trust in institutions and each other has never been lower.
until then everything seemed to be getting better and now everything seems to be getting worse.
It's not that it was a golden era. It's just that boomers and previous generations had no knowledge of just how fucked up this planet really is. They were seeing things through rose colored glasses so to speak. This up and down cycle will continue until people realize how much power they collectively have.
Yeah it was the golden age. Primarily because it was that sweet spot where the mobile phone was widely used but it wasn't a smartphone so it was only used in the way a phone was meant to be used, to keep in touch with friends and family.
Most of the modern world's problem is connected with the smartphone.
I still have my rock collection from when I was 6.
Truly a simpler time
Golden age idk, the 90s and early 2000s is now what the 70s & especially 80s used to be in 2000s. Back then people talked about the 80s the same way. It's what every generation does. But everything was better before clown world went full in: after 2010 or so
early 2000s was pretty tasteless in terms of music & general aesthetics, plus you had this truckload dump of extremely shitty reality tv shows that everyone kept talking about like it was the dopest shit of all time. The same shows that zoomer youtubers are currently using as their first source material for their "reaction" videos.
Plus you had all the 9/11 paranoia all over the place, the bullshit wars in Afghanisan & Irak, so you turn on tv and if this wasn't a crappy dating tv show, it was all about evil kebabs (which is correct, kebabs are subhuman filth, I just don't want to hear about it all day long).
Early internet was kino though. Learning HTML and having your own "homepage" felt great. I kinda miss that part, before the FAGMAN ruined it all.
The left was fighting globalisation while the right was fighting country music singers and football fans.
It was alright as I was in my high octane weeb days which were alright but they couldn't last forever and I ended up homeless in 2005.
in the pre-streaming days you had to go to morpheus or whatever to painstakingly download porn. still beats the 90's though, when the only porn i got were the lousy softcore flicks that ran on German tv saturday night.
that's the deprivation horror stories i'll be telling my grandchildren about..
I can't even user. Things were so good.
It was the peak of the boomer comfort years, but also the set up for the decline.
There was a hard break around the year 2000 where everyone lost their mind, that's when the NPCs really started malfunctioning due to their suggestible brains being overloaded with media nonsense and triviality.
The boomers had been slowly pickling their brains and bodies in indulgence and they just completely let go of reality in the 2000s.
The fun of the internet taking off was a sight to behold, 1mb broadband really marked the new millennium as it started to replace dial up in the 2000s.
The TV died when the internet took off, not only was the internet just better and more powerful in every way, but society was just giving up on a large scale and we just stopped being able to produce enough coherent thought to make enjoyable content in the old spaces.
Saturday morning cartoons in the 90s were at unimaginable levels of fun and quality, and decent movies could still be seen in the mainstream cinema. Live actions kids shows were adapted from childrens literature, and sane social themes were automatically in the background of TV shows and movies.
Highlights
Money stretched a lot further, boomers were still supporting families on a single income and people could live properly doing random office jobs and basic shit with no qualifications
People still knocked on their friends doors to come out and have water fights in big neighbourhood crews, or go riding around on bikes in a big group
People did a lot more real world activities for fun like going on picnics or visiting landmarks and attractions with relatives or friends
The wholesomeness of society had not totally eroded
Negatives
Having no broadband internet is literally living in a lower stage of evolution, the amount of information we have now is 1000x times more than then
Supermarkets had less than half of the options we have now
No it was complete garbage
Corporations had gotten a hold on everything mainstream. It eas sterile as fuck.
After the high speed internet first couple waves of popularity the world had a lot of soul.
If you want golden age you need to go backnto the 80s
