Create things and expand your abilities and understanding of survival, history, and people. You are lucky to be in North America as you probably have a pioneering instinct bred into you. If you don't feel the instinct already, nurture it. Don't use apps, don't watch tv, and for the love of God, stay off social media.
Do as many of these things as you can and if you feel you can't due to circumstance or ability, change the circumstance and try to force yourself.
Creation never hurts and there is no bad side to learning and knowing useful skills like hunting and knowing what's good to eat and what will kill you. Anyone who comes on here to discourage you with a message or futility or saying that I or anyone else doesn't practice what we preach is just trying to demoralize you and kill your pioneering spirit, which they envy and hate.
Life sucks and its going to get harder, but the idea that we must live in complete bliss and security is a modern delusion. The bad times make the good moments better and there is glory in the mere pursuit of glory, there's no reason to not reach for it in all the small ways we can.
