America would be objectively better if he had let the south leave. They would have collapsed in a few decades on their own and the reconstruction of letting them rejoin would have had fewer people sabotaging it than the actual reconstruction did and the south would have been humbled rather than developing an ego thinking they're oppressed.

What are you basing this on? The South was wealthier than the North prior to the war. It was the war that made the South poor.
