This country would be a leader in technology and research, in green energies, and in education. It would be the world's 3rd biggest nuclear power and have some of the best universities in the world (PSL University for example ranks 1st in Europe and top 20 worldwide). It would have some of the best public transportation system in the world and some of the world's leaders in the biggest sectors (Stellantis and the VolksWagen group, Airbus, Holcim, BNP, Deutsche Bank, etc...)
Tighter integration between these countries has some net benefits without the drawbacks of including newer member states. What are your opinions?

It's hard to imagine that divisions between countries like Hungary and Germany can ever be mended. Besides lots of cultures, differences in wealth and continuous changing demographics will cause more instability. The only way I can see this happening is through the use of force and a dictatorship.

well, here's the thing. by itself a country like France, Italy or Germany is a little puny against the USA or China. Hard to make our voices and interests heard.
