So the assault from Belarus was either planned from the start to incite a panic and collapse of the Ukraine government within a few days, which didn't happen as planned and just camping outside of Kiev while under artillery bombardment every day simply made no sense.
So Russia has to achieve a decisive military victory now in the Donetsk front or it's literally over for them.

We are preventing NATO bases from being deploying there, removing US control from their economy and unleashing China right in the NATO's backyard. LDNR independence was just an excuse, if we actually wanted to take them we could've done it in 2014, and if we wanted to take them today we could've just deployed peacekeepers there.
