Nah, this put the spook in Xi, he's well aware that all of Oceania will supply arms to Taiwan while pulling the same "I'm not touching, can't get mad" act as in Ukraine. China is incredibly fragile economically at the moment, even half the sanctions levied against Russia would break them.
Chinese strategy is "risk nothing, take opportunity", Taiwan is a massive risk with very little to gain other than pride. They'd just get another pseudo tech city or two, they'll just continue developing Shenzhen and bulking up the string of pearls.
