Russia is a weird country in the sense that it’s more of an empire than it is a country.
It doesn’t matter whether it’s called Russia, Russian Empire, USSR, Russian Federation. But at the core it’s still the same geopolitical entity, with changing tides of political ideology and economy.
It’s the only empire in human history that became an empire out of necessity rather than out of desire. And will likely remain as such for many centuries ahead.
The west seethes about Russia for one simple reason:

>Soviet Russia was a peer competitor to the west
The reason the west wants to isolate Russia today, is to prevent it from restoring its peer-competitor status for a 3rd time. But I think it’s historically inevitable.
Yea Russia has many Mudslims, many Churkas, etc. But Russia in general has over 100 nationalities and ethnic groups. This isn’t something that happened in the 21st century due to migrant policies, but is something that has been the case for centuries since the empire’s creation.
Empires are multi-national by creation.
As a peer-competitor Russia is the only peer on the western civilisational arena that could oppose France/Germany/USA in case they’d go down the wrong path.
So if you think the west went down the wrong path, Russia is your only counter-balance to fixing that situation
