Yes they are, liberalism(and its variations) is basicaly a christian heresy. Watch the lectures by Kevin Macdonald on the subject, it was a huge eye-opener for me and i'am sure, many others. The problem with the american mind is not any particular christian branch per se, but the fanatical puritan mindset they developed and aply to any christian denomination they belong to, this can range from westboro baptist(fundamentalist christians) to communism(godless christianity) and everything in between.
