If you were going to do something geologic, the smarter play would be a nuke in Mono Lake to potential collapse the vestigial caldera roof. If such a collapse occurred, you could potentially trigger the walker lane belt which would be a potentially more devastating sequence. The San Andreas is locked for the most part and a sudden jolt along its plane of motion may not do it. However, if you can get the walker lane belt to move, you could allow the tehachapis to shift which would then in turn allow the San Andreas to move. If you did that, you might even get some plausible deniability by nuking an active volcano complex rather than trying to detonate some nukes off Monterey which is what most people think is the best course of action.
