That presupposes the enemy cares to dig the encircled enemy out of hardened positions, and can't or won't simply shell or starve them out. In field battles, that's usually less of an issue than in citiy fights. If Ukrainian supply networks are already degraded, troops cut off not on top of urban supply depots aren't likely to last long.

It took America 5 weeks to occupy Panama, Ukraine is a YUGE country relative to Europe as a whole. Plus the gulf war invasions where in Kuwait and Iraq where there’s nothing but open desert except for like two or three cities. And the dynamics of Iraq where different the US worked form the bottom up to the top and it easy to cover their flanks. They had a nice port to supply from, from the very beginning.
