In case of refusal to pay for gas in rubles, the existing contracts for supplies from Russia will be stopped. The consequences of such a decision were disclosed by President Vladimir Putin, his statements cited by RIA Novosti.
He announced that the new sales of gas to "unfriendly" countries would take effect on April 1. According to the president, Russia supplied gas to Europe, paid for in euros, but they froze funds there, and as a result received gas for free.

-Germany is at like 20% but only because Merkel hates coal and nuclear. Fire up some coal plants = problem solved. Buy liquefied natural gas = problem solved.
-There's natural gas inside Europe to cover non-replaceable industrial needs. And it's really not that more expensive than Russian natural gas. In fact, Europe only started to buy natural gas from Jeltsin as an international welfare program of sorts in order to maintain geopolitical stability through trade, and because Russia's export would be a international joke without natural gas and there's no telling what type of leader filthy slavs elect when they start starving.
