Fighters of the elite unit of Russian swordsmen "Angel" are seen in Mariupol. Although they also use modern weapons (RPG-22 and AK-74 weigh on the fighter's back), indoors they rely only on their famous swords made of heavy-duty titanium alloy.
The Azov militants hiding in the houses have no chance, firearms are too bulky in a close fight. A group of swordsmen enters the building from different sides under the cover of night, the plaintive cries of the defenders are heard from the building, and after 20 minutes everything is over.
The squad of swordsmen "Angel" has only 200 people (for the whole of Russia), the preparation of each begins at the age of 12 and ends with a severe exam at the age of 25. The competition for admission to the military school "Angel" is huge. Most of the swordsmen have passed all modern hot spots: Libya, Syria, Iraq, African countries... Officially, Angel swordsmen retire at the age of 50, much later than ordinary military men. But in practice, many remain in the ranks as long as physical strength allows. The oldest of the squad, Ivan Kocherga, is now 63 years old, and he is still ready to give a head start to the young.
On a more serious note, imagine being given soviet era surplus like that rucksack. Imagine the surplus smell.
Xavier Nelson
In a real fight, you will realize that Ivan the Poker (Ivan Kocherga) is nearby when your head is already separated from the torso by his sword.
Noah Williams
Why use a gun if you'll be long dead from some drone or missile you never saw coming before you ever get close enough to use it. And even then it's just "suppressive fire" in some general direction to look for the cameras
Michael Hall
silencers are expensive and you can only launch like 20 shells through them before they break
Ayden Gray
This is plain crignge and edginess mongol style
Too much anime. No way this shit is elite, maybe on russian standard kek
Swords have always been meme weapons. They were a sidearm in ye olden times in case you lost your ACTUAL weapon, and in modern times they are obsolete if the other party has any sort of a firearm from the last 200 years.
And this is a very useful myth. Since in no modern army in the world ordinary soldiers are not taught to defend themselves from the sword.

>titanium alloy Won't hold an edge for shit.
Blake Murphy
They dont need to, swords are a non issue on the battlefield. There is no need to train soldiers on how to deal with a moron with a sharp kill me stick.
Aaron Richardson
Russian vodka wizard thinks you can block bullets with a sword lol
Juan Robinson
The exact composition of the alloy is kept secret. But let's turn on the logic: what modern bulletproof vest can withstand a sword thrust? They don't even hold ordinary knives well...
Joseph Young
>firearms too bulky in a close fight >uses a sword i fail to see how that could possibly be anymore effective than a shotgun down a halway... or even a whole ass mag of 556, or 762 unloaded by semi auto fire
Chase Hughes
However, in the photo attached to the post, you see a sword. Perhaps there is a reason?
this is only kindof true... anything before the widespread proliferation of pike and shot the most common weapon on any battle field was by far the sword. easy to mass produce, simple to use, and cheap. often times a person would cary multipule swords of varying shapes and sizes. and even during the pike and shot period alot of people still used two hand swords to break pike formations (lansknechts)
Benjamin Brooks
If only there was some sort of more portable and easier manoeuvred form of a sword for close quarters
Shotgun trumps sword everytime. Pistol trumps knife everytime. >its just like nigrato >*swish swish* >get shot with buckshot at point blank >chest cavity exposed >no heart to pump blood >no lungs to breath air >die painfully >just like in the animes they told me
