my experience is the less important the doctorate is, the more insistent the holder is on being treated with honors for it
it's really funny to watch humanities and liberal arts doctorates act like they can one-up the quantum physicist on academia dickwaving though. i saw some discussion on this before, but the hard sciences and rigorous fields like physics, chemistry, mathematics, these are treated as "engineering" and on some social class on par with artisans, whereas the liberal arts and soft sciences see themselves as intelligentsia, versed in the inner machinations of human thought and unconcerned with the mundanities of engineering it's a bit more complicated in that they'll elevate an engineer-class to be a favorite if he supports their ideals: see bill nye, mechanical engineer, becoming their favorite climate mouthpiece, or cherrypicked doctors and nurses that supported them during SARS while casting aside the dissent (i know nurses that were NOT the favored ones, who got furloughed, laid off, or handed extra shifts). hell, even in computers, if you're some tranny faggot "hacker" that leaks out givesendgo info or DDoSes russian sites you're a tech genius, but they treat far right trying to stand up entire tech infrastructure on their own as incompetents even if successful
i've seen the term "e-mail" class thrown around and it's sorta that, the people that think they are "too smart for real work" telling other people what to do. anyone that has worked in an office environment is probably familiar with this because it's a plague there, people will spend days dodging a responsibility that would take five minutes because it seems too menial for them, and there's dickwaving on how many underlings you have no matter how useless or bloated the best part is someone guilty of this will read this and think it's referring to everyone BUT him. people become like this because they firmly believe they are justified in this self-fashioned status
