It's pretty much true. Melanin is generated most intensely in response to light. During pregnancy not only does the baby have the mother's skin in the way but their eyes are shut tight on top of that so the eyes often have very little melanin generated on both as a result.

I've got 4 kids. One of the 4 changed eye colour from blue to brown as a youngish baby. Two of the others have brown eyes and they never were blue. The other has blue and they were always blue.

No it's shitskin coping. Only white babies are born with blue eyes that can change, and even then it's not "blue" it's this weird cloudy gray color that then turns brown. A baby born with Ice Blue eyes isn't turning brown anytime soon. It's because babies don't produce as much melanin as adults do, same reason lots of kids are blonde as kids and then it turns brown as they get older, it just happens quicker (by ~6 months for eyes).

Yes. Blue is basically non-pigmented. Black babies also look kind of white when they are born. It's exposure to sun rays that bring out your true color. Takes a few weeks.

Only white babies. Same thing with hair too. Babies tend to have light hair and it can get darker over time. It is true that all people have blue eyes "underneath" or whatever. Blue eyes is just having no color in them, green is a small amount of color, brown is total color. I dont know in other races,but this does happens in Spain. Blue isnt the exact colour,but its similar,just light colour ,very light alike blue.
