For decades, Match Group Inc. has been plaguing the online dating space like some sort of a disgusting octopus, getting its tentacles into every single imaginable aspect of it. They have been buying up rising online dating startups, to the point where on most international markets, the only competing apps are their own. I believe this to be extremely important nowadays, due to COVID-19, the importance of online dating services has risen - and in turn, the profits of the greedy Match Group Inc. have skyrocketed. This is against the best interests of an average American citizen. The fact they can prevent someone from accessing most of the online dating market at their whim is borderline life threatening - COVID-19 related isolation has caused depression to become more frequent due to social withdrawal, and in turn has increased the suicide rates.
Depression has been plaguing the post-pandemic society at an alarming rate, and having black box algorithms control people's lives just like that is worsening the mental health of the average American. The company can "shadow ban" people (allow to have an account, but the account is not shown to anyone else using the app) based on unknown parameters, this allows the company to earn money from the app while providing no real service to the end user. The end user's access to the app is unequal and there is no way to see one's account standing. This company is destroying American lives just for their own profit. Match Group Inc. is scheming against the general population in its greed. According to BusinessOfApps.com, the combined market share of all apps owned by Match Group Inc. is 69%.
