So this question is more of a mix of various topics. North Korea is one of the most sanctioned countries in the world, so their money is basically worthless everywhere outside of their country. That little trade they do with Russia/China, doesn't change much how their economy flows. Wouldn't that mean they are independent from the rest of the world economically? North Korea is basically NatSoc Germany if it survived, just in asian and "communist", so wouldn't their top priority be to give their people the best life possible? Seeing how about 60% of North Koreans live in poverty, just makes me confused. Their supreme leader has the power to just force constructions for families that live in harsh poverty, so they could have better living standards. When everyone has a good starting point, concentrate on food production and harvesting. That should be the top priority. If you have that, you can just pay the workers with water/food. That won't only improve everyones life much more, but it would make those that want to flee reconsider their decision, make the people actually like you (not this fake bullshit where they scream every time they see the fatty just because they are at gunpoint) and it will save money in the long run for more weapons. These are asians we are talking about, not blacks that would destroy the country in about a week ->see Chaz, nor whites that would start to hate themselves for no particular reason.

No, because the average household is comprised of a woman going into China every month or so to stock on goods to sell on the black market in North Korea. The men generally do not work in North Korea, and spend most of their time getting drunk. The women have to get past North Korean guards on the trains by any means necessary to get their goods back home. This is the basic system of their entire economy
