Scientist here. I work at a top secret virology lab, and recent studies have shown consistently that COVID mutates and becomes far, far deadlier when it incubates within homeowners. I'm afraid the only way to avoid a total apocalypse is to live in a pod.

Think about it: if the virus gets virulent in large game and knocks their numbers back or makes it so you don’t want to risk hunting them then a core part of our self sufficiency is gone.

There is no way a respiratory virus is infectious from a cadaver. None. Even if it were, the none of the farm animals lungs are processed. Even if some sick scotsman wants to eat cow lung, simple heat treatment, aka cooking makes it safe for consumption.

It’s not solely a respiratory virus it targets the cardiovascular system too. It is possibly systemic.

I agree the likelihood of getting COVID from a dead deer is low but the more probably scenario is a sudden emergence of a virulent strain that reduces populations significantly.
