Our employer was aggressive in trying to get employees to donate to an emergency COVID leave bank. Leave donation is popular where I work because stupidity, but those who choose to donate always direct their donation to the person of their choice (after the union rep goes begging on the person's behalf for donations). The COVID thing was set up differently. You donated, and it went to a pool distributed by administrators. Without getting into the racial politics and demographics of my employer, this whole thing was a front for a direct white to black transfer of wealth.

Thing is, it's government and they bury us with leave time. It's unreal - you schedule a shitload of time off and by time you return the time is already back in your bank. I work fewer days each year than I don't work, and I work fewer days than a schoolteacher. I have been trying for years to get my balance down to the use or lose limit before I retire. No success. That's how "bad" it is.

I cannot even conceive of a realistic personal scenario where after years on the job people don't have time to cover any eventuality that wouldn't require them to give up their job anyway.

This shit is 100% real. I used to work at the Emerson Governor Road plant in Iowa. It has been cucked hard by the niggers in the UAW since the 70s. People constantly had shit like this posted on the bulletin board. Bargaining Unit contract allowed the transfer of “vacation” days, which you had to use for literally any absence.
Sick days don’t exist. You get “dings” for an unexcused absence no matter the reason thanks to zero tolerance policy. If you get 3 dings in a six month period you’re terminated, and if you get 7 dings in a rolling 2 year period, you get terminated. I literally got told that it’s not fair to treat one persons excuse as more important than someone else’s.
I didn’t get any time off or FMLA coverage until the start of the next year. I got hired in January. I also nearly got fired for having to rush my 8 months pregnant wife to the ER in the middle of my shift.
This shit only happens up north in unionized facilities. Unions are fucking cancer.

Why is any company obligated to be responsible for your healthcare? If you get hit by a truck and can no longer work, that sucks, but why is your company on the hook for your care instead of your society?

My wife's father got cancer and we told the company we needed a month off so that we could help take care of my in-laws while he is going through radiation and chemo.

They said she could have two weeks off (unpaid).
I told her to quit without giving notice and they desperately called her on the second week asking when she would be back.
If I say i'm taking a certain amount of time off, it's for a fucking reason.
Not going to have my wife miss time with her potentially dying father.

We did this for a guy at my old job who lost his wife who was also taking care of their disabled child. In retrospect,; why the fuck was is it up to us workers? Although I did give up 8 hours for the guy even though he was an assho!e. Writing "God has a plan" on the community grievance card may have been overboard though.
