Russian strategy explained

For all those scratching their heads in confusion, or dusting off their dress uniforms for the Ukrainian victory parade in Kiev, over the news about Russia’s “strategic shift”, you might want to re-familiarize yourself with basic military concepts.

Maneuver warfare. Understand Russia started its “special military operation” with a severe manpower deficit—200,000 attackers to some 600,000 defenders (or more). The Russians needed to shape the battlefield to their advantage.

Strategically, to facilitate the ability to maneuver between the southern, central, and northern fronts, Russia needed to secure a land bridge between Crimea and Russia. Mariupol was critical to this effort. Russia has accomplished this task.

The concept of a feint is simple—a military force either is seen as preparing to attack a given location, or actually conducts an attack, for the purpose of deceiving an opponent into committing resources in response to the perceived or actual actions.

Ukraine had assembled some 60,000-100,000 troops in the east, opposite Donbas. Russia carried out a broad fixing attack to keep these forces fully engaged and unable to maneuver.

Russia also engaged in a campaign of strategic deep attack designed to disrupt and destroy Ukrainian logistics, command & control, and air power and long-range fire support. Ukraine is running out of fuel and ammo, cannot coordinate maneuver, and has no meaningful Air Force.

Russia is redeploying some of its premier units from where they had been engaged in feint operations in northern Kiev to where they can support the next phase of the operation, namely the liberation of the Donbas and the destruction of the main Ukrainian force in the east.

This is classic maneuver warfare. Russia will now hold Ukraine in the north and south while its main forces, reinforced by the northern units, Marines, and forces freed up by the capture of Mariupol, seek to envelope and destroy 60,000 Ukrainian forces in the east.

This is possible. Whether it is what is happening or not is uncertain.

But they would have benefitted from the land bridge for resupply whether or not they are doing this.

>Understand Russia started its “special military operation” with a severe manpower deficit—200,000 attackers to some 600,000 defenders (or more). The Russians needed to shape the battlefield to their advantage.

wow, that was fucking stupid. Didn't bother reading further than this because despite having 10x the population of ukraine russia couldn't amass a military equivalent in force to it. What a dumb, stupid, badly planned operation.

Another potential cope which is also possible is that Russia could play along with exaggerated claims of losses in order to bait the enemy in, not just in Ukraine, but potentially in other areas that it wants to gain a justification to attack, such as Georgia/Armenia/Azerbaijan. However I tend to think that Russia really does have heavy losses.

That's a lot of cope. Not buying the "they did badly on purpose"

>2 more weeks
Still coping

Good point
But we have to wait to see if it’s true

Stopped reading
Ayyo hol up. Why doesnt russia familiarize itself with concepts like SEAD, recon, logistical support, secure comms, disciplined leadership and combined arms?

No no you see they did badly on purpose it's 4d chess bro i'm not coping

I'm reading this like I'm seeing the news on MSM. This isn't a COD game and I have my doubts 99% of people running their dicksuckers has the slightest idea what any of this in real life is like.
Op makes some good observations and has valid points. You on the other hand took the jab so that alone means you are a dumbass.

Stop discussing this as a war between nation-states, it's a top-down Jewish carve-up of old Khazaria, please fuck off Rabbi

It's not. It's bullshit of the highest calibre that has nothing to do with how war ia done.

I CAN'T SEAD

>recon
kek reddit is doing all the russian recon for them by channeling their narcissism for that reddit gold

Read about the first chechen war and realize that Russia makes the same pathetic fuck ups. If you think the actual plan for this was for it to drag on for weeks in to months with no real progress as some ebic big brain plan you are coping hard. OP did not make a single point worth spending any time on.

Is it true Azov uses one of those machines on Russian prisoners?

>muh 72d chess
>sour grapes coping
Or Russia tried to blitz Ukraine, failed, and now they are changing tactics.
Maybe they will succeed now, but I don't believe for one second they didn't want to take Kiev and remove Zelensky.

is that a dude in stockings? wtf?

yeah the manager at the shill farm in india told his employees to start posting that one

Realistically might be thermal underwear. But also maybe stockings

This is the correct answer. They tried for a quick Crimean style invasion and it didn't work, now they are adapting. A lot of what OP said is true however. If they manage to successfully encircle and destroy ATO, the resulting collapse will be catastrophic and lead to a domino effect that could lead to the collapse of the Ukrainian military and a subsequent quick Russian victory. If Russia fails to take Donbass in the upcoming attempted encirclement (immediately after Mariupol has been taken) or are kept to a prolonged stalemate then Ukraine has effectively won the war.

Russian strategy
>denazifying
>saving the white race
>liberating
>fighting globohoholomo
>neither of this things are specific or even remotely specifiable in nature
Seeing a pattern here
Their actual strategy though is to make everyone equally miserable to their exact likeness

>Ukraine has effectively won the war
there's a significant problem
Ukraine cannot concede Donbass, they've already spilt too much blood
and russia can't go home empty handed
i don't see a possibility of compromise here

Honestly, I'm more than okay with West going for this much effort of deluding themselves.
By all means, underestimate Russian military strategy further. I hope this is what goes through your politician's heads as well.

are you looking forward to being drafted? You realize that's an increasingly likely possibility since your guys are dying by the thousands?

what a busy pair of canadians. do you two sit next to each other?

every loss is photo documented
how many more without pictures?
how many vatnigs in each tank, IFV etc?

go on, debooooonk him

If you truly believe this, then missiles are very important to the strategy. Irreplaceable missiles, with irreplaceable guidance systems, from a country with the economic output of Texas.
Literally multiple generations of Russian wealth is riding on those missile stockpiles...
Like the ones that exploded in Kursk and Belgorod? Better get a grip on those 'human-caused accidents' real fast

You're reality realin ain't sayin much homie.

>we fail objectives on purpose

Lolle you are incapable retards on copetrain and moving goalposts :D
