I think differences are often miniscule and only matter if approached with dishonesty, as some versions make it easier to pilpul and falsify, or deep esotheric matters like this discussion about soul and spirit right now (ignoring stuff like the scofield bible, or whatever the fuck china is producing) Personally I like the Berean Study Bible in english, its clear cut without being dry to read, and also gives you references to other passages that relate as well as giving you differences between the masoretic text, greek septuagint, dead sea scrolls and latin vulgate. King James Version is for my taste too bombastic in its poetry and loses some understanding as a result, but maybe that me not being a native speaker of english
it was only messed with through removing books and botching up the translations. Masoretic Text too was altered by jews to deny Jesus as Messiah. Beyond that I believe the scripture to be still accurate, We have in example the older greek septuagint and can in general check and compare the different scriptures.
