In this day and age, with so many testimonies from veterans and info on the military industrial complex, if you sign up- you deserve it.
Part of military training is to instill “bearing” which will help the warrior maintain the proper demeanor and level of functionality to be effective in extremely stressful combat situations. They develop a “resting tough face” after a while, and revert to it frequently on account of the amount of training or time in field they have. You know the Thousand Yard Stare? Combat veterans who don’t even have ptsd still do it, you’ll see it in flashes though, instead of an extended amount of time. Its a healthy level of awareness thats expected to be maintained for people who are in high risk and stressful environments. Also they usually emulate their drill instructors which are the first ones to teach them bearing.
