it depends on the objective. tracks can be repaired relatively easily, so while it will immobilize the tank it won't take it out of commission. Front armor is usually thicker, and if the armor plates are slanted then its effective thickness is even higher. If you can take out the powertrain (the engine and transmission) then its a much longer fix if not outright out of commission. Aiming for the junction where the turret rotates over the body chassis is also a good weak spot.
