How did Ukraine fuck up defending an invasion from Crimea? There are basically 2 roads leading out of the peninsular chokepoint and one of them is a bridge
How did Ukraine fuck up defending an invasion from Crimea...
They were smart and didn't mass their army on their border for it to be easily targeted by Russians, idiot.
>they were smart by getting BTFO in an easy to defend chokepoint and won by losing a lot of territory
yeah the smart move would've been to mine the shit out of those locations
obviously the answer is 'Ukraine is retarded and doesn't deserve to keep existing'
>they were smart by abandoning the most valuable land in their country and by letting Russians secure a bridgehead over the most defensible obstacle in their country
I suspect the only reason they aren't completely collapsing is huge Western aid. Western generals are probably micromanaging their troops.
If they defended on the border, they would be flattened by artillery, rockets and planes able to attack at point blank range, and cut off by paratroopers and marines landing in their rear. Russia would be fighting right of top of their prepared logistics.
Now Russia is running out of supplies, has to guard long supply lines, and Ukraines are in positions that are harder to attack.
What part of ''they abandoned the most valuable land in their country'' don't you understand?
They already de facto lost. Russians are just having trouble advancing deeper, but even if they fail it's irrelevant.
All that's left is an impoverished rump state, where they execute tied people by stabbing them in the eye.
ships
landing ships
There was 2 nearby bases right near the checkpoint with complex earthworks and fortifications...you can see it on google earth
The russians smashed them with airstrikes and mlrs on hour one in a complete suprise.
You would of had to dig deep to find the 700 or so soldiers who were killed and captured that night
You're huffing glue if you think sitting there out in the open against a prepared attack that you're not able to get the opening shot on is a good idea.
It might make sense if you're retarded to defend two apparent chokepoints, but that wasn't the situation here when they were flying in to begin with.
>easily targeted by Russians, idiot.
>they would be flattened by artillery, rockets and planes
they could have just umm... shelled the shit out of the advancing russians and bombed the fuck out of them when they tried to cross the chokepoint instead of fleeing?
post an instance of russia using them in this war
That one ship that got btfo
>out there in the open
You'd be correct if they defended on the river.
They didn't though. They literally let Russians secure two intact bridges and establish a bridgehead across Dnepr, the most defensible line in their country.
It's a major fuck-up, on par with Russians expecting Ukrainian Army to just roll over and die.
Ukraine can't go toe to toe with Russia in an open field. Look at where those 2 strips of land are.
>open field
>near the sea
>zero air superiority
They would have gotten decimated in 20 minutes. That's why their current tactic is to retreat to buildings with civilians and force Russia to kill innocents if they wanna advance.
Hiding in cities behind civilians is one way to wage war.
I would guess it's easier to cross the marshes than it looks because this happened in WW2 twice. First the Soviets tried to turn Crimea into a citadel and the Germans crossed right away, then the Germans tried to turn Crimea into a citadel and the Soviets crossed right away.
>Ukraine can't go toe to toe with Russia in an open field
Yeah, because terrain across Dnepr is mountains and narrow passes.
Dude, no matter how you frame it, they fucked up.
They gave up the most valuable land in Ukraine with little fight, and they didn't even defend against Russian river crossing (and check how wide Dnepr is, crossing it would be insanely hard).
They let Russians occupy Kherson.
It's a fuck-up. Simple as.
I'm not trying to frame it as anything. Ukraine is severely outmatched and outgunned. They have no air superiority. Modern wars are won with air superiority alone. Not to mention Ukraine's supply lines are fucked AND millions of civilians are fleeing truly believing this war isn't worth fighting. Only reason why Ukraine hasn't capitulated yet is because Russia doesn't want to shock and awe cities to the ground like Americans did to many middle eastern countries. So it's basically guerilla warfare now with limited coordination.
SEVESTAPOL WAS A USSR NAVAL BASE AND CONTINUED TO BE A RUSSIA NAVAL BASE EVEN AFTER UKRAINE EXISTED
Russia had a military base full of troops IN CRIMEA on the Russian military base before they annexed crimea
the ukrainian main issue during 1st part of this war in 2014 was the fact that they weren't so sure they are a real nation. these 8 years of russian genocide consolidated them and now entire world know they are Ukrainians not russians for real
>Ukraine is severely outmatched and outgunned
Not true. Their forces outnumber Russians, quite literally. And they have significant NATO aid, most importantly in the sense of being given real-time data.
Do you have any idea how important that is?
They literally know Russian operational intentions, plus Russians fumbled their invasion plan in the start. Their job was pretty easy actually.
>They have no air superiority.
True, but then again, Russian Air Force isn't on the level of American one. They lack quality targeting sensors and sufficient PGM stocks.
They're still doing their job though.
thats the reason russia won there so quick
russia is stalling because the frontline is too long and they cannot utilise their troop quality to its full potential
they should have brought conscripts to defend and then use the professional core to do offensive action but putin probably thought zelensky would be couped due to his low approval pre war
what are you talking about. it's not stalling. it's starvation. russian soldiers dont have food, fuel and are so demoralised that buy alcohol for last money. Russia is already doomed without real NATO help. We will celebrate putins suicide soon
least delusional pole
way before the war they were trained for gorilla warfare since they knew they'd not be able to hold a conventional war.
The best they could do is knock out the bridges but by that time russians had already seized everything in the first day the russians didn't declare war
They concentrated their forces in North to defend Kyiv. Also it seems Russian navy and marines are the least incompetent part of Russian armed forces.
Russia knew about what ukraine was doing, and Putin had inserted special forces into the port of Sevastopol back in 2014. They took crimea without firing a shot and reinforced it militarily so by 2022 there's little Ukraine could ever do to retake it.
excuse me i didnt read it was about creame
You think Serbs could have won at least one war in the last 500 years with sun tzu over there.
it is about the war
the war in ukraine
the one putin prolonged by at least 2 months by not bringing in 200k more conscripts from the start
thats what he gets for still larping as a democratic ruler
spelling kiev as kyiv doesn't mean they are a seperate country. its as retarded as scotland claiming to be a seperate country from the UK just because they speak with a different accent.
