Because, retard, there is coal, gas and oil deposits in the east of Ukraine that they need for their economy. There are also important industrial areas in the east that are important for Ukraine's economy.
Why do you think they are fighting so hard? It's because without these regions Ukraine would be much less prosperous and barely above Moldova outside of its cities. It's already a very poor country, taking away their land is a death sentence for their economic future.
The entire reason Russia is invading Ukraine is to take these natural resources and strangle the Ukrainian economy in the long term. Russia wants to gobble up all the resources in its sphere of influence for themselves. They don't want Ukraine supplying western Europe with their industrial output or natural resources, they want only Russia to be the exporter.

this was practically already agreed upon a very long time ago, and in fact russia agreed to recognise ukraine's borders permanently in exchange for their nukes. in addition, ukraine already has a policy of being a non nuclear-proliferation state, and the likelihood of american nukes on their soil was very low to begin with considering the closest america has nukes in nato countries is in turkey and germany. in fact america isn't even allowed to station nukes in the former east germany as per agreements made with russia

It's not a civil war, Russia has been arming and participating in the conflict since the start.
The entire conflict was started by Russia, Igor Girkin, look him up on Wikipedia. He was a former FSB agent sent into eastern Ukraine to arm and start the separatist uprising after Euromaidan. Russia sent armored vehicles and regular infantry into Donbass to support the separatists. Remember MH17? Shot down by a Buk missile system supplied by Russia to shoot down Ukrainian air force aircraft, but mistook a passenger aircraft flying over for a Ukrainian transport aircraft and was subsequently transported out of the country back to Russia, the entire move was geolocated by Bellingcat.
My point is, Russia started this conflict artificially from the start and turned it into what it is today.

I see what you are saying but the western media is slamming everyone with a bunch of shit about how the Russians are losing and the Ukranians are going to win. This is obviously bullshit but if the Russians are in the weak spot they say they are, then this would be the likely negotiated outcome.
