Anytime people are having fun, the government is trying to stop it, including spying on and threatening everyone in the name of "safety, freedom and justice." This is one problem. The other problem is that there is an incredible demand for drugs and/or alcohol. People like to get high or drunk in America and if it's not illegal drugs, then its prescription drugs. A prescription doesn't solve the problem of a troubled life. Beyond this, drug users have their licenses, and other freedoms taken away, then are expected to walk a tight rope for years with no promise to earn those privileges back (probation/parole). No one likes it for the affected person, but drug use is a victimless crime. Prison and loss of citizen rights should be reserved for violence and crimes of moral turpitude. Also, it's obvious Pelosi and Biden are on drugs. Drugs should be decriminalized, not just for Boomers.

The policy should be extremely harsh punishment or decriminalization, having your policy in the middle makes things worse. Either make the punishment so bad that hardly anyone wants to take the risk of using, or make it so there are actual viable support systems to get people off drugs. Lukewarm drug laws cause problems. Decriminalization would be easier to transition to for most countries. Full legalization would be retarded, because stores shouldnt be able to sell meth and heroin
