I think the elites know the masses are becoming uncomfortable with the direction society is headed and are starting to realize current social media is designed to separate groups in order to have them lash out and fight each other instead of finding common ground to solve their problems.
Most likely Elon's new social media company would be designed to suck the oxygen out of any organic movement to free us and to put us back in the same situation we are in.

In America, we actually have laws that already do this. It's the first amendment to the constitution. We've been incorrectly led to believe that it's merely meant to be a hedge against the federal government but the federal government is supposed to protect these Rights. Instead, it does everything it can do oppose them. Not only does twitter violate our Rights by denying us unfettered political speech, they allow hate mobs to form to harass people and businesses that don't fall in line. It is a wicked, out-of-control criminal enterprise and the longer this charade continues, the quicker the collapse will come.
