What did Putin really gain from invading Ukraine? Putin was able to meet world leaders, was well respected, super rich, large yachts, ready for retirement with several mistresses.
Now Putin is persona non grata, has crashed the economy and killed tens of thousands of people. He also painted a target on his back, tons of asshole fanatics want to assassinate him.
>What did Putin really gain from invading Ukraine? Two entire regions, a destabilized global economy, etc. As far as I know, the ruble is already recuperating to nearly pre-war levels.
Jonathan Cruz
it was either that or watch the US stealthily make it into an outpost of pax Americana. the clock was ticking. every day he waited Ukraine slipped further out of Russia's sphere and further into the USA's.
It's a very sad outcome for those on the ground, but this is why it was never a good idea for great-powers to get into a tug-of-war over Ukraine.
>What did Putin really gain from invading Ukraine? a legacy. He has everything else already.
Ryan Myers
id love to know the answer to this too, but neither side is really stating it clearly. i think its just push back against nato. but like you said he was at the finish line for a comfy retirement, is it patriotism that drove him to it? did he see a threat we havent? i doubt the answer is as simple as he just wanted a conquest.
>What did Putin really gain from invading Ukraine? unironically demilitarizing and de-Nazifying the Ukraine
William Brooks
>ticking clock
bs, Russia has nukes, they aren’t threatened
Blake Cook
Your country is buying gas in Rubles now. That's a huge fucking win. No one buys gas in euros. Which means ruble more valuable than euro l.
Ryan Reed
>What did Putin really gain from invading Ukraine? He wanted more Russian population and the fake Ukrainians were really Russians to begin with.
After the most bloodless blitzkrieg in history, a decade or so of Russian propaganda in schools and media the fake Ukrainians would obviously just embrace their Russian heritage.
Brandon Adams
>the ruble is down and nothing has changed for the rest of the world my gas prices dont agree with this statement. Moreover, the ruble is literally almost back to pre-war levels. How exactly did they suffer?
You won't be able to hole eastern Ukraine not with that joke of an army and NATO stepping up supplies
Connor Ross
Ukraine being invaded was made as inevitable as WWII following WW!. When the Soviet Union dissolved NATO should have been disbanded. All the former soviet states including Russia should have been folded into a new alliance with the west but its too profitable and politically useful to still have Russia as the "Satanic Empire" even though human rights abuses are far worse in places involving long term allies.
Kayden Kelly
> Your country is buying gas in Rubles now
Nope, we aren’t. We already officially told Russia it is euros or we don’t buy nuffin
Jose Taylor
god i hate eurotrash so much. that outfit is insufferable.
Literally 800bn in Russian state foreign reserves have been frozen. Their banking system has Greek collapsed and all multinstionals have pulled out leaving millions of Russians without a job. 80% of young Russians try to leave the country.
