But they endure only as long as they have food on the table and can live a reasonably livable life, and only when they see success in the war that Putin has started and that he says will be won quickly. These sanctions have not even had their full effect yet, and there will be more to come that will basically turn Russia into a shattered state with an economy smaller than Nigeria. Germany is in the process of reducing its energy dependence on Russia. This is especially true in the coal and oil sectors. There is also progress in the conversion of gas supplies. If this process continues, Russia's largest and one of its last sources of revenue will dry up, meaning the collapse of the Russian economy. The Russian people will suffer and rise up; we have seen this many times in the past, whether it was the October revolt in 1917 at the height of World War I or the final removal of the Soviet regime in 1993 by Yeltsin after pressure and almost violent revolution by the Russian public. Putin knows this, and that is why he is pumping up his propaganda in a pathetic way, trying to sell the operation as a success to buy some more time. At the same time, he is afraid of his own generals and ministers, which is why he won't let them get closer than 10 meters to him. Most of all, he fears the Russian people, who are becoming more impatient and angry by the day. Putin's public appearance in the stadium showed that he had his concealed weapon in his hand all the time, so paranoid is he already. If he didnt win this by victory day (9 May) its over for him.

He foolishly thought the whole rotten house of cards would collapse as soon as he marched in with his army, destroyed a few airfields, and sent a few paratroopers near Kiev. He underestimated Ukraine's war effort, probably because he is surrounded only by "yes-men" among the generals and ministers who do not dare to tell him that he is wrong because they are afraid of punishments, as has been shown a hundred times before. Also he understimated the unity of the EU and the whole western alliance (NATO).
Dollars buy munitions, missiles, and the technology needed to fight a war in a modern environment if you want to occupy a heavily militarized country as ukraine. It also pays soldiers who have low moral of waging a war in their relatives homecountry. Human lives are way more valuable and cant be thrown as easily away as in the wars of th 20 century. If you sacrify to much sons in todays age your citzens will remove you from power.

if you want reality, read the pressrelase of the energy ministry of germany. Oil and Coal dependency has been scaled down from 50% to 25% allready and complete gas independence of Russia could be feasable as soon as 2024
