The fact is the best way to placate a society is to allow some level of upward mobility, flood them with creature comforts and entertainment and keep them sheltered. Any ideological issue will fall by the wayside. This is why liberalism ironically works better at crushing discontent and opposition. People feel they have too much to lose, even if they know they’re morally obligated to fight some sort of evil.
