I'm afraid this all blows into the same horn. You have to consider that politics for the masses are always as simple as possible, even if the "nazi's bad"-framing is way too basic for anyone with half a brain.
In the US, they're already positioning to frame all kinds of dissenters as "domestic terrorists" and the worry is, of course, that once you unperson them as nazis, you can do whatever you want with them without any public resistance. Point was that if the int'l community buys Putin's take, it's effectively another huge step to be completely permissible about wiping out right-wing ideologies.
