Who is in the wrong here?

A lot of people, in their free time, try to escape reality.
I'm the opposite, i research politics.

A couple minutes ago, I had a discussion with someone online, a stranger, about immigration, jews, etc.

And their logic is... they're trying to escape reality and not think about all of this.
They think it's better to do that.

And they even said to me, once they were a bit irritated, "you should know better than to research that stuff, it's better to escape it and just enjoy yourself, you should know better."

What's your take on that?

They are weak and defeatist. You can't blame them but you should never admire them either.

I think the truth is burdensome, but unavoidable and necessary. I know a lot of people like this, though. When pushed to the wall, they admit that a lot of things that are very distressing about civilization are just too upsetting to dwell on.

thank you for your wise words

Unless your "research" (addiction) brings practical value to your life, then you are wasting your time. What actionable changes have you made to your way of living based on politics?

Politics is like porn. You convince yourself that you’re the one thrusting, when in actuality, you’re just sitting there with a dick in your hand.

Most people are like this and try not to think (It's evolutionary so it's normal, hence why they are called normies). It's the reason democracy is a failed system, Not enough care to make universal or even widespread suffrage work.

Frankly, my mother has that same stance. She would rather ignore politics, and pretend that everything is alright; says she would rather be ignorant than be miserable due to political involvement. I can understand that sentiment, but ignorance never ends well. Especially when you live in a climate where politics are influencing the lives of young children in negative ways (I have two siblings, both young and going through school at the moment). And the conversations I've had with them are frightening, and they are exposed to things my mother has no idea about nor any concern to learn of. Sadly, she isn't alone - the majority of people would rather take the "I just want to grill" mentality, and unfortunately that attitude is a result of a longterm psy-op to reduce the political power and involvement of the average person. After all, if a person knows nothing, they are easily propagandized through emotional arguments.

“The most merciful thing in the world, I think, is the inability of the human mind to correlate all its contents. We live on a placid island of ignorance in the midst of black seas of infinity, and it was not meant that we should voyage far. The sciences, each straining in its own direction, have hitherto harmed us little; but some day the piecing together of dissociated knowledge will open up such terrifying vistas of reality, and of our frightful position therein, that we shall either go mad from the revelation or flee from the light into the peace and safety of a new dark age.”

>What actionable changes have you made to your way of living based on politics?
that's the thing though, I didn't have to adjust, because I was already aware.
Others have to adjust constantly their failed viewpoints to match what they do.
I haven't had to do that, because I know what I'm doing as a result of being aware of what's what.

Look at those beans, so cute

Does the central pad look like a (((nose))) to anyone else, or just me?

Your friend is right. First of all, it's not a problem. It's only a psychological issue. It's a problem you're creating in your head that you can't solve anyway. Like it or not, there's nothing inherently wrong with people being born a different color, in a different country, or of a different sexuality, etc. You just have decided to let it bother you. If you learned to enjoy life instead of creating unsolvable problems for yourself, you would be a lot happier. I'm sure I'll get shit on for this post but it's the truth. Most of the people you hate are actually pretty fun if you give them a chance to be your friend.

im just here to talk about catpaws

The joke is that the previous owner of the store is called Chuck so if you replace "Sneed" with "Chuck" you get "Chuck's Feed & Seed".

That image will draw me in faster than a lustful one, nicely done

My favorite is people who learn all of the ins and outs of the fictional politics of LOTR and Star Wars, but they know nothing about real politics.

Now I only see Wario

What he's saying is that you have this "knowledge" and the only thing you're doing with it is letting it consume you and stewing over it. You're not enjoying your life because of this knowledge and yet you can't do anything personally to fix it. For instance, instead of having fun with your friend, you're having an argument about something neither of you can control and something that isn't constructive.

This is the redpill.
So many people just keep consooming more "truths" but what does it actually do for you? Make you more anxious and depressed? All for a short hit of anger/superiority high? I don't dwell too much on this stuff anymore. We all know whats wrong with society, learning more about how sick it is isn't really doing anything for me.

Too many here confuse learning about how shit things are with self improvement.

>instead of having fun with your friend, you're having an argument about something neither of you can control and something that isn't constructive.
That is my textbook definition of having fun with my friends.
To each their own!
