Probably the most surprising thing about all of this is the sheer entitlement, hypocrisy or naivety I've seen from diplomats and economists when it comes to Russia. I don't know which it is but they seem genuinely perplexed that Russia isn't following the rules they laid out for them. They seem to be under the impression that Russia can be their enemy and yet they still get to dictate the rules to them and that Russia is not allowed to violate those rules like they themselves do.
Sanction the, confiscate their national wealth and a slew of other things that go directly against the entire premise of a impartial global banking system. Then Russia responds in kind and they are fucking baffled that they have the audacity to not sit there and follow the rules they make while they break them and fuck them.
Like god damn I thought that the government was malicious but at least somewhat competent in regards to economics and foreign relations if nothing else. This is what I would expect of some 20 year old woman who thinks she is untouchable and goes around punching old slavic alcoholics only to be fucking flabbergasted when one of them just decks her.
