fyi everybody. almost all modern machine guns are derivatives of either the mg-42 or the browning something. just like all/most bolt actions were (not anymore) derivatives of the mauser g98. ak-47 is a derivative of the sg (i think) and almost all modern rifles (auto & semi auto) are derivatives of the ak-47. we need new tech branches

thats what im saying
they can do damage but to suggest they can invade colombia is ludicrous

Another Conflict Is Brewing in the Caribbean

>A powder keg much closer to the United States could be one of the world’s next tests: the Guyana-Venezuela border, where the two countries have been embroiled in a bitter fight over a contested region known as the Essequibo. the Essequibo region’s oil fields, discovered in 2015 by ExxonMobil, have catapulted Guyana, one of the Western Hemisphere’s poorest countries, to join the ranks of the world’s top energy markets.

>This is a destiny Maduro seems intent on preventing—either directly or indirectly, with Russian support. Putin has long extended a lifeline to the beleaguered authoritarian government in Caracas, helping one of Latin America’s largest energy producers to offload sanctioned oil, providing personal protection for Maduro against assassination or usurpation, and sending the country tens of billions of dollars in military hardware. Putin’s backing as well as his defiance of international norms could give new wings to Maduro’s territorial ambitions to the east.

>Maduro has vowed to “reconquer” the Essequibo, issuing decrees in 2015 and 2021 to establish Venezuelan maritime boundaries that encompass Guyana’s exclusive economic zone and repeatedly deploying military reinforcements to the disputed border since 2015. In 2021, a joint statement about Venezuela’s eastward claims released by Maduro and his own opposition represented a rare point of agreement between the dueling political forces in the country.

>Preventing conflict over the Essequibo in the long run requires ramping up disincentives for Venezuelan cross-border aggression today. Diplomatic support for the ICJ process from multilateral organizations and their member states is a good place to start. The Caribbean Community’s commitment to the preservation of Guyana’s territorial integrity.

Honestly only solution is to raise Mariupol to the ground Iraq style.

Yeah definitely. But i think were going to see more and more articles about a future Venezuelan invasion of a neighboring country, given Maduro's ties to countries like Iran and Russia. Take as an example. Although the de cocainization comment was a slip up on the venezuelan governments part.

caliber being different is exactly the point Bernd, how else would you get ammo?

The ak-47 is more of a derivative of m1 garand

What does he want ?
Who does he think he is ?

all modern guns are based in 1895 browning, doesnt mean theres no innovation

>ak-47 is a derivative of the sg
Long-stroke system with rotating bolt is unique to AK, FN FNC and SIG SG550
StG-44 uses tilting bolt
>almost all modern rifles (auto & semi auto) are derivatives of the ak-47
Almost all modern rifles uses short-stroke system
webm unrelated

it would require a unanimous vote, right? I dont think China would be on board with that.

I don't know where the "ak47 is just an mp 43 rip off!" meme comes from but the ak 47 was heavily inspired by the m1 garand. Kalashnikov said so himself.

pretty sure it was one of the mid 1940's prototype carbines that was based on the garand
>le ridiculous maintenance meme gun
it's kind of sexy though

Well my bad. Rechambering counts as modernization to me. If 1911 is rechambered to 10mm, I would no longer call it two time world war winner.

Twelve Soldiers Die in Jihadist Attack in Eastern Burkina Faso

>At least twelve soldiers were killed on Sunday in eastern Burkina Faso by suspected jihadists, security sources said, the sixth attack of its kind in the country in ten days. "On Sunday, armed elements attacked a military unit around Natiaboani. The provisional toll is twelve fallen soldiers," a security source said.

>"This was a patrol and security team that was attacked by presumed jihadists," another security source said, adding that ten soldiers had been killed. "Multiple elements on the enemy side were also neutralised," they said, without giving further details.

>Natiaboani is a rural community about sixty kilometres south of Fada N'Gourma, the largest town in the Eastern Region administrative area that since 2018 has been regularly targeted by armed groups.

>Around 15 youths were kidnapped by armed individuals during an attack on Friday in nearby Nagre, according to the country's information agency.

>Burkina Faso has seen an upsurge in violence after a period of relative calm following a military junta taking power in January. Disgruntled officers toppled elected president Roch Marc Christian Kaboré, who had been facing protests over his handling of the bloody jihadist insurgency. In total, 23 civilians and 25 policemen or soldiers have been killed over the last ten days. Burkina Faso has been struggling with jihadist attacks since 2015, when militants linked to Al-Qaeda and the Islamic State group began mounting cross-border raids from Mali.
