Same. I was immediately taken away, mother didn't even get to hold me. For the record cesareans don't need to be clamped either.

Fortunately I was breastfed until ~2. Don't know. My mother was formula fed however and confronted her mother, who just said it was the popular thing or something.

Yep. Know why they take you away? Probably the epidural doesn't actually stay in the spine. It leaches into circulation, across the placenta, and into you. this messes with your heart rate (drives it down), so they have an excuse to clamp immediately because you are "in distress". That's my suspicion.

I've thought about this. Between no skin contact after birth, not getting your microbiome populated by the birth canal, and the brain damage, I imagine there are probably permanent low level cognitive/affective effects. You might want to research early childghood development and attachment disorders as well. Ask your parents if they were attentive, or l;eft you alone in a dark room to cry yourself to sleep every night.

Scenario 2) You simply allow the blood to enter the child so it can deal with all potential problems in the future better.
Your brain would have to be fully clamped to choose anything other than 2.
