If god would help we would be slaves, we wouldn't have free will. Also this is a "fallen" world. In the bible it states that even lions lay with sheep in the garden of eden. There is no death and killing there, it is another plane of existence.
See it as different levels, before conciousness you were in hell (Nonexistence) now you are in the middle/midgard and when you die you can either ascend into heaven or be reborn, your choice but only if you are enlightened enough to be concious at the moment you die to transfer your conciousness out of this cycle called "samsara". We'll never know. What we do know is that we have highly over-specialized brains that are capable of conceptualizing God and philosophical concepts. We might just be the end result of the desire to experience something. Evolution would cause us to experience more and more until experience itself just becomes absurd and poses questions we'll never know the answer to. Or maybe the desire is God.
