well, there still very much a serial killer problem in the states and all over the world and most likely there will always be. but press coverage on them has slowed down because they get off on seeing themselves as celebrities, and in some cases the info released helps them as they develop their craft.

I don't know about most prolific. I've read a lot about psychopathy, and they often say how it seems universally distributed throughout humanity, like schizophrenia.
But for reasons, it's less noticed in 'black' circles in the west. I remember some case about a clear cut serial killer somewhere in the US, but literally the police said they didn't give a shit cos killer was only killing 'black' prostitutes.
