He firstly predicted it in 2003 after Tulsa, then in 2008 he predicted almost everything that happened in 2014. There're a lot of Ukrainian intellectual who had been predicting it since 90's. The problem that after commie time the country was full of corrupted idiots who only cared about money.

He’s not predicting the war… He’s designing it. He basically admits they could have peace in the Donbas. But they need to win a war against Russia in order to join NATO. His belief, is that if they do not join nato, they will gradually get absorbed by Russia in the next 10 years. Likely from the economy and cultural power alone. This is not something he wants. So war it is. The last line says it all “and we will win!”
This is very telling of the attitudes of the Ukrainian leadership.
