the stations are atrocious and many (not just Jamaica) are in literal ghettos, it almost goes bankrupt every few years, trains are always overcrowded unless it's late at night past peak hours, of all the passengers maybe 5% are white

In all honesty, even shit tier countries like Italy have massively better trains than the US. US trains are like 1940s era train technology compared to the rest of the world. It's embarrassing. There isn't one true high speed train route in the US. Anything over 40 miles per hour is considered to be breakneck speed in the US.

Somehow Italy can build high speed rail lines through cities that are 2000 years old with no problem. Meanwhile, the US can't build one high speed train line in a country that is 99% wilderness and country.

When I travel to France or Italy, I love their high speed train travel. It's super fast, convenient, brings you city center to city center. Then in the US, I'm stuck driving, or taking shitty plane trips everywhere, where the airports are 10+ miles outside of the cities.

I wish the US would build JUST ONE high speed rail line, so the country would understand how great it is.
