Current situation is that Zelensky can't sign the peace treaty, because nationalists will depose him instantly. Nationalists want to fight until the end. This is why Zelensky has put them at the outskirts in the Mariupol to be slaughtered by Russian forces. Once AZOV is destroyed, and nationalists are decimated and demoralised, Zelensky will be able to take much more lenient position and sign something with Russia. Nationalists are upset about this turn of events and want to free their "heroes", but Zelensky is quite determined to have them all slaughtered.
