There is an obvious discrepancy in ability here, if ICP moved in when groid lee moved his back foot(you plant the front foot for a proper roundhouse, still can use the shoe tip or heel, it's an extra step for those without muscle memory) he would have missed it due to it not being a full power shin/top of foot cleaving kind of roundhouse.
You can step in during the attack animation, do a back leg sidekick(roundhouse woukd miss or slide off if times, they're planted so they're getting shit on by a thrusting kick), slide back then return quickly, or kind of kick them in the thigh(not the planted one)and do a stiff jab then elbow or some kinda combo.
A better way to throw it would be to not aim for the side, but to slide towards the opponent at like a 20 degree angle past them, as to hit them in the center of the body. If you have power, they aren't gonna really block it.
Straight kicks and sidekicks are far better for knocking someone down, headkickimg is extremely difficult and it doesn't matter how you do it, land one and they're probably fucked, practice on a big bag to try and keel and bend it rather than sway it off the hook.
