If I was American i'd join. This is probably one of the best times to join the US Army. The US public is too war weary for any major US conflict to happen in the next decade.

I've heard this but wasn't sure if it was true. Even much of the equipment is surplus from the Soviet era supposedly. I guess they're reserving the good stuff in case of a confrontation with NATO.

Russia used its top level forces in Crimea, which was a small OP and a testing ground for their tactics. Crimea fell within 24 hours and barely a shot was fired, the ukrainians were so overwhelmed only 1 soldier was killed in the entire operation.
They were fast and brutal and didn't back down. That is what the USA has in store for it.
