Fragmented streaming services

Streaming is not a viable option anymore. There is so much fragmentation in the market that the average consumer needs to have subscriptions to 50+ streaming services.

Snoop Dogg just took the entire Death Row Records catalog off all streaming services. Supposedly it’s because he is trying to monetize the music through NFTs or something equally stupid.

> . Snoop Dogg purchased Death Row Records in February 2022. Shortly after the acquisition, he announced that he'd be turning Death Row into "an NFT label." And those NFT plans are already well underway. On March 14, Snoop Dogg launched the Death Row Mix: Vol. 1 NFT on the Sound XYZ marketplace. Only 1,000 versions of the NFT were available, with Snoop Dogg describing Death Row Mix: Vol. 1 as, "some bits and pieces from my friends and family for you to enjoy. Even a couple minutes for you to throw your own verse in there."

> What does all of this have to do with The Chronic, Doggystyle, and the other Death Row albums no longer available on streaming services? The general consensus is that Snoop Dogg is planning to re-release them exclusively as NFTs. While nothing's been confirmed about this just yet, Snoop Dogg's made his interest in the NFT space very clear — at one point saying, "Just like when we broke the industry when we were the first independent to be major, I want to be the first major in the metaverse."

> As for the future of The Chronic and Doggystyle on streaming services, it may be a while before you can listen to them again. Billboard claims that The Chronic may not come back to Spotify, Apple Music, and other platforms until 2023 (with no mention of a return for Doggystyle). The NFT focus from Death Row could be a win for hardcore fans of its albums, but for everyone else, it could be a pretty annoying future.

the cable companies were right?

How did that guy become in charge of death row?

Does Snoop even own the entire Death Row catalog? Never knew that.

Yep. Streaming is gay.

What in the fuck does this even mean? How is the music going to be a NFT? What the fuck?

>February 2022
ah, that's why I never knew.

same as a jpeg. maybe means you can buy your fav song if you are rich and release it as you please and earn from it (death row still gets a cut im sure)

especially after I saw that Spotify doesnt even pay 1 cent per play in the US. WTF.

based nigger

SNOOP IS STILL CHASING DRE AND HIS BEATS BILLIONS

NFT IS A MEME
BUT THIS GANGSTER NFT
HOLDING ALBUMS HOSTAGE COULD WORK
JUST HAVE TO SEE IF IT OUTPERFORMS THE LOST STREAMING ROYALTIES

Killed tupac and is “their” puppet like dre who prolapses feminem

>WHAT THE FUCK
too much weed plans present.
he'll wisen up and throw them back on streaming sites, eventually.

But how does this work?
>Snoop buys death row
>removes all songs everywhere
>stops selling physical media
>releases clips and remixes as NFTs
> ????
>profit

So, how does someone listen to an album under this model?

Oh so he's just being a retarded fucking nigger.

I sell music in hard format, I refuse to buy any of this niggers albums for resale because I don't want to deal with the type of people who listen to his music, I know I could make money but it frankly isn't worth it to me. On the subject of streaming, if you don't have a physical copy you don't own shit and the license can be revoked at anytime the rights holder changes or companies get bought.

This is boomer tier. I thought Neil Young was pulling some sourpuss boomer shit, but Snoop took it to a whole different level.

It's just going to lead to a revival of torrents and piracy which is great with me. Fuck the music jews and jews in general

> As far as 2Pac’s masters, 2Pac’s masters came back to him last year. But I got a great relationship with his estate, and I’m pretty sure we’re going to be able to work something out … to continue some Death Row 2Pac business now that Snoop Dogg is in control of Death Row,” he said. “Same with Dr. Dre and The Chronic. I got The Chronic album. I got Doggystyle, Tha Doggfather, Murder Was the Case, Dogg Food, Above the Rim. I got all those records.”

He’s going to do the same with 2pac’s catalog from the sound of it
